James’ Eyeconic Adventure

From city commutes to alpine passes: how one pair of Eyeconic shades survived a year of being taken everywhere.

A year, four countries, one pair

James bought a pair of our sport frames intending to keep them for weekends. They came back from a year that included a Highland winter, two alpine passes and a great deal of ordinary commuting, with a scratch on one temple and nothing else to report.

What actually matters outdoors

Grip matters more than weight. A frame that stays put when you look down is worth more than one that is a few grams lighter, and a lens you can wipe on a shirt without leaving a smear is worth more than either.

  • Rubberised temples, for looking down without slipping
  • A lens coating you can clean on the move
  • A case that survives being sat on
"I stopped packing a second pair. That is the highest compliment I can pay a frame."

James, Eyeconic customer

Where they went next

The same pair is now on its second year. James has had the nose pads replaced once and the lenses re-coated, both of which we do at cost for anything bought from us — a frame that lasts is cheaper for everyone.
