How to Style Sunglasses with Everyday Outfits
Casual, office or evening — how one pair of frames can carry all three without looking like an afterthought.

Treat the frame as an accessory, not a fixture
Most people choose sunglasses once and then wear them with everything, which is why they so often look borrowed. A frame is jewellery: it wants to agree with the metal you already wear, and with the temperature of your wardrobe.
Three outfits, one pair
With denim and a plain shirt, an amber or tortoiseshell frame does the work of a scarf. Under tailoring, a thin metal frame keeps the line clean. In the evening, a dark acetate reads as deliberate where a mirrored lens reads as sportswear.
- Match the frame's metal to the metal you wear
- Keep one warm pair and one cool pair, not six
- Push the lens tint up rather than down at night

"The best pair is the one you stop thinking about at the door."

The one rule worth keeping
If an outfit is already doing something loud — a pattern, a strong colour, a statement coat — the frame should be the quiet part. If it is not, the frame is where you can afford to be interesting.
